Can you be a teacher of Literacy if you don’t love to read? by Ann Powell-Brown
As an avid reader who is constantly doing book talks with my students, I have to say I have shared the same frustrations as the author of this article. I agree, a good Language Arts teacher has to be a reader! Within my own school, I have noticed similar categories of teachers related to reading. I know the professor style and the ones who only read when they have to. I found it funny the author refers to book lovers as having a fire in their gut because I mentioned my fire for reading and a goal to rekindle those fires of my students. I am going to share this article with the student teacher in my classroom to affirm the best practices she is learning.
